Industrial Clients

Industrial companies - whether in the automotive, pharmaceutical, chemical, electrical, metallurgical, argicultural and food processing, or oil refining sectors - must primarily focus on their core business

In these times of rising fuel costs and increased awareness of the carbon footprint, energy has become a increasingly important factor in a manufacturer's competitiveness. Every aspect is important at their sites. As a decentralized energy specialist, Veolia provides them with energy solutions that offer high-added value and meet their requirements in terms of reliability, quality, availability and cost.

COMPETITIVENESS FACTORS

Manufacturers are engaged in a race for competitiveness that is leading them to focus on their core business. More than ever, they need to control their costs and reduce risks while contending with volatile energy and carbon prices. They also want to maximize their energy self-sufficiency, guarantee reliability and create a zero incident production environment.

IMPROVING PERFORMANCE

Major manufacturing companies – particularly in the food & beverage, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries – are turning to Veolia in the knowledge that they can rely on its solid assessments and expertise in design, build and operation of energy utility plants. Other assets include Veolia’s ability to develop solutions that are cost-effective and environmentally sound, backed by the best technology available, including the use of biomass, biogas, recovered energy and combined heat and power (CHP). Veolia acts as a genuine industrial partner on these projects, with a commitment to results. It adopts a global approach to energy issues, embracing the technical, social and financial aspects as well as managing carbon quotas.

VEOLIA - A MODEL PARTNER

Veolia is involved with 4,300 industrial facilities worldwide and offers its customers three key guarantees. The first is to secure their energy mix and supply with respect to quantity, quality, price and availability. The second is to reduce the energy and carbon footprints of their industrial operations. And thirdly, Veolia guarantees the availability of their facilities through detailed service commitments.

Solutions:

  • Design, build and operate energy utilities
  • Creating cost-effective, environmental solutions including biomass, biogas, energy recovery and CHP

HEATING AND COOLING NETWORKS TO IMPROVE OUR CITIES

As the global leader in heating and cooling networks, Veolia has unique expertise in their design, construction, operation and maintenance, in addition to extensive know-how in innovative technologies, managing energy supplies with a focus on renewables and providing services to end users.

LEVERAGING PERFORMANCE IN THE URBAN ENVIRONMENT

Urban networks save energy and preserve the environment in many ways. They replace thousands of individual heating systems with a modern, reliable industrial system, and they increasingly make use of renewable energy (biomass) and recovered energy (waste, industrial gaseous effluent, etc.). They can also be associated with combined heat and power, or cogeneration plants, which are much more efficient than conventional methods.

A FAST-DEVELOPING SECTOR

Urban networks reduce cities' carbon footprint and their dependence on fossil fuels. That is why the EU is promoting their development as a way of meeting its energy saving and CO2 reduction targets. In Europe, Asia, the United States and Russia, more and more cities are upgrading and extending their existing networks and building new ones. In the Middle East, cooling networks are vital to the development of today's cities.

VEOLIA: DRIVING PROGRESS

Hundreds of municipalities worldwide that put their trust in Veolia rely on its expertise in diverse forms of energy – including coal, gas, biomass and geothermal – to develop efficient energy mixes. They appreciate Veolia's technical expertise and rely on the quality of its relationship with end users. They also benefit from its unequivocal commitment to the quality, availability and cost of energy supplied. This expertise makes Veolia a valuable partner for cities in the fight against fuel poverty as well as in broader aspects of urban planning. Veolia is a key player in urban networks in Europe, China, North America and the Middle East. In 2011, in Poland – where it operates in more than 40 cities – the city of Warsaw sold to Veolia its heating network, which serves 80% of the population and, at 1,700 kilometers, is the biggest in the European Union. Veolia is also building Abu Dhabi's cooling network and managing the networks of some 15 US cities, including Boston, Philadelphia and Baltimore.

PUBLIC - PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP PROJECTS

Energy companies involved in district heating in the Republic of Serbia are almost 100% organized as public utility companies (Toplanas), founded with the primary cause of providing services in the field of heat production, heat distribution and heat supply at a municipality level.

Veolia can offer two models of cooperation with energy companies – a short-term and a long-term cooperation model.

Short-term cooperation models with energy companies are based on delivery, installation and commissioning of specific technical solutions and equipment, developed by Veolia.

Long-term cooperation models between energy companies and Veolia are defined by public-private partnership contracts, which are fully in compliance with the existing Public-Private Partnership Law. This type of cooperation can include contracts related to operation and management of energy sources and related networks (O&M Contracts), Energy Supply Contracts, contracts during which the payback of the investment in reconstruction is obtained by achievement of savings (Energy Performance Contracts), so as Concession Contracts.  The fact that distinguish Veolia from other competitive companies on the market is a possibility to completely finance the most demanding project, in case of its feasibility.

Solutions:

  • Design, operation, and maintenance of heating and cooling networks
  • Management of energy supply processes, with the focus on renewables
  • Services to end users
  • PPP – analysis of the parameters of the district heating system, development of self-initiated proposals within the PPP, implementation of the PPP contract with the possibility of financing
